Sunraysia Supplements caters to more than just the gym junkies and fitness fanatics.
While the inspiration for the store was inspired by owner Phil Zervas’ journey with bodybuilding, he prides himself on stocking a huge range of products for fitness, health and wellbeing for everyone.
Phil noticed the lack of locally-available supplements when he returned to Mildura after living in Sydney.
“I was born here in Mildura, and moved to Sydney with family when I was around 10,” he said.
“I’ve been into body building most of my life growing up as a kid in the big city. It wasn’t competitive, but I was in those circles training from around 15 years old.”
He moved back to Mildura about four years ago and realised there was no supplement store.
“There were no world-class products in town. The only other option was to buy online. I opened the store for my own benefit, but for the community at the end of the day, too.”
Phil said his store – and its following – had grown immensely each year.
“This town really needed it. You only need to look at the number of gyms that are here to know there are a lot of fitness fanatics and they need the products,” he said.
Sunraysia Supplements stocks snacks, teas, gut health products, BCAs, electrolytes, proteins, superfoods, coffee, weightloss products, collagens, fat burner products, vitamins and minerals.
Phil takes pride in connecting with his customers and finding solutions for their needs.
“If a customer comes in with concerns, I can run through their options of supplements. I like to explain everything in detail and thoroughly go through it with the customer,” he said.
“We’re about fitness, health and wellbeing. It’s for all ages and all lifestyles.”
Why did you choose to trade in Mildura City Heart?
“We’re very central, in middle of town. Lots of parking, lots of traffic and foot traffic. It’s a business district too, so it brings everyone.
What is Mildura/Mildura City Heart’s best kept secret?
“We are our own oasis. We’re in the middle of nowhere but we’re a thriving community.”
What does shopping local mean to you?
“It’s very important. It creates employment, not only for myself, but it circulates money in the region, rather than the money leaving the region. We’ve got to support local. If we don’t, we won’t keep the variety of goods we have here.”
